May 16th – 25th Laudato Si’ Week

Laudato Si’ Week 2021, to be held May 16-25, is the crowning event of the Special Laudato Si’ Anniversary Year, and a celebration of the great progress the whole Church has made on its journey to ecological conversion.

Laudato Si’ Week 2021 will also be a time to reflect on what the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us and prepare for the future with hope.

In our parish church of Our Lady & St. John in Carrigaline we have a display illustrated with posters made by the Transition Year students of Carrigaline Community School and members of the parish Care for the Earth group.

As a parish we are undertaking to implement the actions for Faith Communities outlined in the 2021 All Ireland Pollinator Plan and are also being guided through our membership of Eco Congregation Ireland to an eco approach to worship, lifestyle, property and finance management, community outreach and contact with the developing world.

We ask members of our faith community and parish everywhere to reflect on the beauty of God’s world and to consider what practical steps can be taken to prevent further damage to the environment. Also, we have committed as a parish to pray for our wounded planet, for people in the developing world already affected by climate change and for future generations.
